What is Polydactyl?

Comments (1) Polydactyl refers to a cat that has more then 18 total toes on their feet (5 on the front, 4 on the back). It’s not as uncommon as you think, especially if you happen to be in Key West, Florida- polydactyl kitties are known as “Hemingway Cats” because Ernest Hemingway loved them! If you go to his house in Key West (now the Hemingway Museum), there are polydactyl cats everywhere.
While perusing the internet, I found this article:
UK Kitten May Have Tied World Record
This kitten has 28 freaking toes!!! I’ve never seen a cat with that many, ever. Then, being curious, I went to my own polydactyl kitty, Hemi (yes, after Ernest Hemingway), to count his toes.

And he has 24. If only my little guy had 5 extra toes he may have had a chance at breaking a world record!
